My name is Jeff Nesheim and I am, among other things, a poet and photographer living in Iowa City, Iowa. My interest in photography goes back to 1977 when a family friend gave me a Minolta SRT100. From there I spent years both behind the lens and in the darkroom. Hopefully, I carry the darkroom aesthetic into my current digital work.

Wanderlust informs my vision. A good day is a day spent behind the wheel of a car, on both well-traveled and forgotten highways and byways. Many of my images – whether landscapes, portraits, or still studies – attempt to capture desire and longing, a search or question, and sometimes, the things found on the journey.

Most of my life I have lived on or near and traveled via Highway 30. Lincoln Highway, as it was named in 1913, was the first transcontinental route conceived with the automobile in mind. My roots run through Highway 30 and my images are the record of my journey along its routes, both in reality and in spirit. This photoblog is where these wanderings are recorded. For stretches, it may represent particular projects. At times, it may detail tangential excursions. Always, thank you for taking the journey with me.
